Encore Magazine: Creative Inspiration

Encore Magazine

Today I stumbled on a great link that I thought was definitely worth sharing with all you guys.

Its an online magazine called Encore. It presents design, photography, illustration and film on a completely new and trendsetting platform. The magazine is completely web-based, and makes use of lots of hyperlinks, animations, sounds, streaming videos, and various other interactive elements.

It reminds me a lot of the South African based magazine, One Small Seed, which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, One Small Seed is not an online magazine, neither is its website anything to boast about.

With the Encore site, you can change your reading environment at the click of a button. You can read the magazine on the beach, with a sandy background image, listening to seagulls chirping, and waves lapping up against the beach. Alternatively, you can read the mag in the “office” environment, with a office desk backdrop and stressful noises, including telephones ringing off the hook, and people talking loudly. Why you would want to choose the latter baffles me, far too stressful.

As a web designer, Encore is a place of creative inspiration. The site is coated with awards, and packed full of great international designer’s works. Registration is free and easy.

This is where my free advertising stint ends. If Encore want more appraisal they’ll have to contact me. I’m very impressed though, as you can read, and I know I’ll be spending lots of time on the site. Go check it out.
