Last weekend I finally got around to watching “Into the wild” and now i’m blogging about it, even though the movie was released in 2007 and has been reviewed plenty of times.
Into the wild recounts the life of Christopher McCandless, an actual student-athlete at Emory University, as told by his sympathetic sister. In response to a materialistic, manipulative, and domineering father, McCandless destroys all of his credit cards and identification documents, donates $24,000 (nearly his entire savings) to Oxfam, and sets out on a crosscountry drive in his well-used but reliable economy car towards his ultimate goal: to live alone and off the land in Alaska. Into the wild was directed by Sean Penn, starred the up and coming, hugely gifted, Emile Hirsch (Leonardo Dicaprio look-a-like) with a powerful soundtrack produced by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam (I’ve already downloaded one of the songs from the movie on iTunes).
Penn, in tandem with the superb cinematographer Eric Gautier (The Motorcycle Diaries), captures the majesty and terror of the wilderness in ways that make you catch your breath. [Source: Rolling Stone]
This has to be my favourite film I have seen in a long time. It’s one of those films that leaves you thinking about the story days after you’ve watched it and you can’t help yourself sourcing the internet for more information about it.
Do yourself a favour and watch it, then watch the 6 part Youtube clip from the Charlie Rose show where he interviews Sean Penn and Eddie Vedder and they give you some fascinating insight into the evolution of the movie.

The experience of watching this film is an event in itself. Rich character development, visceral cinematography, compelling story line. Brilliance. I remember searching for the final words in his diary.
I loved this film. Mostly because it spoke to my heart and reminded me of the things that are really important. 5 stars!
Emile Hirsch = girl next door best movie ever
Must also mention that the book by Jon Krakauer is also great reading and actually it was he that brought this story to the world way before the movie was made.

guess you guys have not heard at all the main core in this story have been told by the Chinese people thousands years ago, the old saying is “amateur reclusive ones hide themselves in the forest, real reclusive ones hide themselves in the crowd” .
i like this movie too, but i think supertramp is kinda over some signs from the books
I can thoroughly recommend the book as well. The film and the book are very different and both great in their own right.
The book goes into details such as how the bus actually got there in the first place and looks at the lives of other people who have followed similar paths.
I saw Into The Wild back when it was in theatres and I really liked it. After watching it, I just wanted to do the same; leave home and go into the wild on an adventur
