It’s that time of the year again, and it seems the topic of discussion on everyone’s blog is “South African Blog Awards”. With a rebranded awards site, and neat widget functionality, it looks like this year’s awards might be taken a bit more seriously.
You may recall I won Best Tech Blog in the South African Blog Awards 2006 (Site doesn’t seem to be working properly). I don’t think that will be happening again this year, in fact, I probably have more of a chance winning in the new category, best GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered) blog. There are far better tech blogs around this year!
My site focus has somewhat shifted from tech discussion to being more of a creative outlet. I hope my blog now reflects a more accurate picture of who I am. It has definitely been a good move from a career perspective, I find my blog now attracts more work than my company website does!
Last year I launched a tongue-in-cheek propaganda campaign to get suckers to vote for me. It seemed to have worked. I’m not sure if I will go down that same route again this year, rather maybe re-use a couple campaigns 🙂
I know I haven’t launched a new site design over the last year, rather I have chosen to better the current design I have. So if you are going to vote for me, then click on the widget on the right menu. Either way get voting.
Let’s hope this year the awards are given to a few more winners. Don’t get me wrong I’m a HUGE fan of 2Oceansvibe, I read it everyday, but one blog, that doesn’t run off a blogging platform, doesn’t allow for commenting, and doesn’t have an RSS feed winning all of the below awards takes the mickey of this Blog Awards thing slightly.
