Jozi 27dinner

I’m at Johannesburg airport at some ghastly hour of the morning wondering who eats at Ocean Basket at this time of the morning? Well I can see at least 8 people doing so. Anyone for a fishy seafood platter for breakfast at 6.30am?

I’ve been terrible at updating this blog in the last couple weeks, most of you don’t even know that I have been in Cape Town for the past week already. I’m here for a work/holiday/summer visit. Any excuse to escape the cold weather in London.

I am in Johannesburg specifically for the 27dinner that happened last night. This was my first 27dinner experience and also the first time I had met two of my great business partners at Afrigator, Justin and Stii. It’s been 8 months and a lot of hard work and never a face to face meeting, the joys of the modern world. It was a particularly special evening because we had some exciting Afrigator news to tell, that was of course after the customary Eskom power failure.

Afrigator Beta

Afrigator Beta is finally here and available for all to see.

I’m hoping Justin’s very slick presentation will be made available today for all to see. In the mean time do pop on over to Afrigator Beta to have a play around. Please do remember this is a very early beta version and we still have a lot of little design and development bugs to iron out. It is not yet residing on the main Afrigator.com domain, but will be as soon as we are happy, and you are happy with it. We would LOVE to hear what you have to say about our project, we thrive off your feedback.

A post will follow, hopefully soon, all about my involvement in beta and the revamped design interface.

It was great to meet so many people I had only ever spoken to through my blog – Nic Haralambous, Vincent Maher, Charl Norman, Paul Jacobson, Ramon Thomas, Scott Gray, Wezzo (who I don’t think is a fan of having his real name linked to Chumpstyle for some reason 🙂 ) Carly Ritz, and Feisty Female (who I just have to call by her web name) to name but a few. I do wish I had more time to speak to everyone individually. If you haven’t been to a 27dinner before you are missing out, make sure you get to the next one.

A final huge thank you must go to Mike Stopforth for picking me up from the airport, chauffeuring me around Johannesburg (with some near death experiences), and putting me up in a great bed and breakfast.
