Whilst going through my webstats I noticed I have had quite a large amount of hits coming from a site called StumbleUpon. Being a little inquisitive I visited the site to find out more.
“StumbleUpon lets you channelsurf the best-reviewed sites on the web. It is a collaborative surfing tool for browsing, reviewing and sharing great sites with like-minded people. This helps you find interesting webpages you wouldn’t think to search for.”
By downloading a small add-on for your Firefox, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, or SeaMonkey web browser, you get a StumbleUpon Toolbar. It looks a little something like this:
Once you have installed the add-on, you are taken through a very quick registration procedure, where you can specify what interests you, and what channelsurfing you would like to do. I chose “Graphic Design”, “Internet Tools”, “Multimedia”, and “Weblogs”.
The results are amazing, 90% of the time I have hit “Stumble” it has taken me to a page I have enjoyed visiting. It also allows you to channelsurf through popular videos , photos, and news, as chosen by fellow Stumblers. You can rate the pages with a “Thumbs up” or a “Thumbs Down”, these voting results help better analyse the websites so StumbleUpon can give you even better results.
I strongly recommend you download this little tool. Perfect for some lunch time entertainment. One thing you must remember though is to click on the little “Thumbs Up” icon when your on my site! 🙂
I “stumbled upon” this lucky guy.
